Redesigning the Running Cap from the Ground Up

We took the widely used concept of a running cap, dissected every detail, and rebuilt it for real-world performance in the harsh Lake District environments we call home. Every decision came back to one goal: caps that work with you, not against you.

A Shorter Peak for Smarter Performance

The short peak was the first major change we made that went against the conventional grain. We couldn’t get our heads around why most running caps adopted a long structured peak as this only made the product heavier, claustrophobic and more likely to be whipped off our heads.

Our answer was to shorten the peak to 5cm. By doing this, and making it malleable, we reduced weight, improved visibility, and created a packable running cap that stays secure in any weather.

Since then, our range has evolved to offer a choice of peak lengths and constructions, from malleable short peaks to firmer structured designs, so every runner can find the fit and feel that works best.

Breathability, Lightness, and Fast Drying Fabric

The next area we targeted was breathability and performance. Every VÅGA cap is built with a highly absorbent sweatband as standard. For our performance-focused caps, lightweight mesh panels maximise airflow and wick moisture fast.

The result is a range of caps built for every condition, including options with windproof and waterproof protection.
